This year, as per VDL’s commitment to the community, VDL has decided to be involved in the Easter Seal’s 24 Hour Relay. The 24HR Relay was created to raise funds for children with disabilities within BC. All the money raised will send children with disabilities to an Easter Seals camp where they will be met with the facilities tailored to their needs. Maybe they’ll get a chance to play dodgeball at camp!

VDL encourages your team to register and join in on the fun! If you’re into running (or even walking!), register yourself and encourage others to join you in this amazing fundraiser. Even if you can’t join, please dig deep for some $5 bills (coins are too heavy to collect) and pass them onto your friendly neighbourhood Execs as they’ll be collecting donations for the Relay! Not only will you be helping many disabled children within BC, you will also have the opportunity to spend time (24 FULL HOURS if you really like us) with your favourite execs! It is going to be GLORIOUS, FANTABULOUS, and just pure CRAZINESS!

VDL’s Fundraising goal: $2,500 (if we can get 100 runners that’s only $25 of fundraising from each runner! Less than a $1/day if you collected a $1/day from now till June 20!)

Now if what you’re worried about is the actual running, DO NOT FEAR MY DEARS! You can walk, run, skip, and even toss some dodgeballs around during the run. And of course, we do not expect you to run for the entire 24 hours. The 24 hours will be broken down into shifts and we will schedule your running shifts to accommodate your schedule.

On the day of the event, VDL will have their own campsite and you’ll be able to hang out with your team and your favourite VDL execs and volunteers for 24 HOURS!  During the day, there will be volleyball, bocce, and various forms of entertainment; and of course, there will also be a beer garden!

VDL will also be hosting various fundraisers from now till the Relay date to help contribute to our ultimate goal of $2,500 as a team! A wise person once said, “there’s strength in numbers”. Our league has over 1,000 players. That’s a lot of mighty fundraising power! So even if you can’t be a runner, please come out to support our big fundraising events from now till Relay day!
