Community Engagement

At VDL, we believe in giving back to the community. We organize fun, meaningful charitable activities where we liaise with local non-profits and give back with our time and energy.

If you’ve ever wanted to volunteer and help others, or are a little nervous about going it alone, we’d love for you to join us! Just show up to an event, it’s that easy! Come hang out with other dodgeballers outside the court, gain exposure to the ways you can help out, and make a positive contribution to our local community.

If you are interested in helping organize or lead similar events, or have ideas to pitch for players to get involved in, the VDL Community Engagement team would love to hear fro you! Please contact Michelle at msz@vdldodgeball.ca

On-Going Volunteer Opportunities:

VOKRA

VOKRA: The Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association (VOKRA) is a volunteer-driven non profit dedicated to the rescue of cats in the Lower Mainland. When kittens are discovered and called in, volunteers are needed to assist with the rescue effort! If a litter is found around our school areas, VDL will be called on to help coordinate volunteers to capture the kittens and drive them to the shelter in East Van.
Learn more about VOKRA through their website: http://www.orphankittenrescue.com/home/

How it works:

1) Sign up on our contact list.
2) A kitten litter or icy sidewalk appears near a dodgeball gym.
3) The “cat” signal goes out – let us know if you’re available!
4) Get together with fellow dodgeballers and make a difference.
Players on our contact list are notified first, but we’ll make an open call via VDL social media channels if additional help is needed. We hope to catch you out there in our community!
Both volunteer opportunities can be signed up for on our contact list!
