Details

  • When: Saturday, November 24, 2018 10:00am – 1:00pm
  • Meet at: Stanley Park Nature House
  • What: Remove invasive species around Stanley Park
  • Who: Come learn firsthand about the threat invasive species pose to our local native ecosystems while making an important contribution to conservation and restoration in Stanley Park! VDL will be joining the Stanley Park Ecology Society (SPES) to enhance Vancouver’s largest urban forest by removing invasive species such as English ivy, Himalayan blackberry, and yellow flag iris. Dress for the weather, rain or shine, and be ready to work with a great group of like-minded volunteers in a beautiful outdoor setting. Gloves, shovels, and other equipment will be provided.

On That Day

Seven intrepid volunteers came out on a cloudy Saturday morning and altered the lakefront of Lost Lagoon foreverrr! With shears and shovels, the team cut down towering blackberry brambles and released their chokehold on the native flora.

Heigh-ho, heigh-ho, it’s off to work we go!

Man that’s a lot of blackberry

No time for smiling!

Starting to see the other side

Victory!
