VDL MODIFIED LEAGUE POLICIES AND GUIDELINES

In alignment with ViaSport BC, BCDC, and the Province of British Columbia Health Authority, VDL has made the following policy adjustments:

  1. Teams are co-ed, made up of a minimum of 6 players and maximum of 8 players.
  2. All players must sign a waiver, and be 19 years and over, in order to play; no exceptions. Waiver information will be used for PHO mandated contact tracing.
  3. Captains must submit a roster at the beginning of the season. All players submitted on the roster must be signed before the start of the season. Captains must submit roster updates to a league director BEFORE the day of the session
  4. Vaccine Status – As outline above, and in accordance to Provincial Health Orders:
    1. Proof of first dose will be required prior to entry on October 18th
    2. Proof of full vaccination (with the second dose having been received by October 18th) will be required prior to entry on October 25th, and all subsequent weeks.
  5. Teams may NOT borrow any additional players that are playing on different courts/teams in the same venue. Teams with less than 6 players must play as such. *See rules for substitutes below.*
  6. Any substitutes that are inside or outside of the league must sign a waiver prior to playing and have completed all requirements of being added to the group roster, including accepting all Waivers, Addendums and Terms and Conditions of play, may be in attendance at the court.
  7. Substitute players can only play for one team per season.
  8. Any physical altercations, or serious breaches of spirit and sportsmanship will be automatically met with disciplinary actions which could result in suspensions or expulsion.
  9. Captains’ handshake will no longer take place during the Captain’s meeting.
  10. VDL expects all players to be mature, respectful and sportsmanlike to other participants and to league organizers. In order to protect the community, we reserve the right to refuse service.
  11. Default (No Show): Teams who do not show up without providing any notice, will be charged a default fine of $25. Teams who default will not be scheduled to play until the fee has been paid by their next scheduled date. Teams will not be charged if the League Director is notified at least 24 hours in advance.

SCHEDULING/TIMELINE

  1. To minimize group interaction, VDL sessions will be staggered to allow sufficient time for entry/exit of participants. Participants must clear the gym at the appropriate time as per VSB regulations and may not enter the gym facilities unless instructed to do so by a VDL exec.

VACCINATION STATUS

The PHO states “As of September 13, one dose of vaccine will be required for entry to these settings. By October 24, entry to these settings will require people to be fully vaccinated at least seven days after receiving both doses. To enter certain spaces, including indoor ticketed sporting events, indoor and patio dining in restaurants, fitness centres, casinos and indoor organized events, like conferences and weddings, people aged 12 and older will be required to show their proof of vaccination.”

  • Proof of full vaccination (with the second dose having been received by October 18th) will be required prior to entry on October 25th, and all subsequent weeks.

It has been made very clear by the relevant authorities and our venue partners that there will be ZERO exceptions to this requirement.
