S16 Pre-Season News: Important Events & Dates!

Ready for the best (next) 3 months of your life?

With all the sunshine and outdoor activities this past summer, aren’t you dying to finally pick up a dodgeball and show off your skills indoors? Well, get set for another epic season of big hits, double catches, intense showdowns, and all-around good times! Let’s shake off that rust and get back into the game by marking these key events in your calendars!

1. Exhibition Week: From September 9-12th we have Dodgeball 101 for all new players and Vet’s Night for experienced veterans. Gym locations and registrations can be found here.
2. Regular Season: Week 1 begins on Monday, September 16th. League schedules from week to week will be posted here.
3. Photo Week: Start thinking of team uniforms to leave an impression on and off the courts, because we’re snapping your snazzy shots during Week 3, starting September 30th!  Get some inspiration by browsing through our VDL Gallery!
4. Sign the Waiver NOW! All S16 players must sign their waivers before they are allowed to play in the league. We will have waiver checks at different gyms throughout the season and any players that have not signed their waivers will be turned away.
5. Beginners Skills Clinic is available for anyone who wants to improve their throwing, dodging, blocking skills! It will be happening on Saturday, September 14th. Space is limited! Register here.
6. “Dodgebalding for Dollars Tournament” is a fundraiser for cancer research and will be taking place on Saturday, September 21, 2013. More information will be released later this season.
7. VDL’s Legendary Pub Night: The best and biggest social event of the season! We can’t wait to have you and your team come out for some casual drinking and bonding! (Date TBD)
8. S16 Playoffs: Mark you calendars for – November 30th (Tuesday Div.), December 1st (Wed Div.), December 7th (Mon Div.), December 8th (Thursday Div.) (Dates are subject to change)
9. VDL Runs on Peer Reffing: Our league is a much better place when everybody knows the rules. Please take a couple of minutes to familiarize yourselves with VDL’s Rules, League Policies, Player Code of Conduct, and Officiating Guidelines. If you absorb more knowledge by watching rather than reading, check out the IDA rules video below.
