S17 Playoffs Game Plan

Greetings VDL!!! Season 17 has been our largest season to date! This season we welcomed 15 new teams to the league as both Wednesday and Thursday nights grew. As such, we have to move on to a new playoff venue to accommodate our growth. This season’s playoffs event will be at Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School (map)!

This venue is walking distance from the Canada Line and can house all of Thursday’s 56 teams under one roof. In the future we can have 8 divisions running at this venue!

Bon Chaz is providing the food so bring cash for cookies, pastries and beverages.

There will also be a number of other changes that will be implemented this season and in seasons to come. Moving forward, only one team per league night will win the coveted Hootie spirit award. There will be no more ties for first place. With this change in place, a runner up spirit champion award has been created and will be presented to the 2nd most spirited team!

Following new league policy changes, for the team that wins the coveted tier 1 title, we will only be awarding 9 medals per winning team. The number of t-shirts awarded to the winning team, however, will not be impacted with the caveat that the winning team members must be in attendance to claim their prize.

Spirit Score winners will be decide by the overall average spirit score of that team throughout the season. Tie-breakers are to be settled “bowling style” (the team with the most consecutive perfect weeks will break the initial ties). Any subsequent ties will rely on the accumulated number of MVP nominations for that team.
